Target Distribution & Leaders

  • There is significantly more target share (22.1%) going to tight ends with the Vikings. T.J. Hockenson appears to be a viable pick for lineups at the flex position, especially considering he holds the highest completion rate in the red zone (71.43%) while receiving the same number of targets and touchdowns there as Justin Jefferson.

  • The Chargers are tied for the fourth-most touchdowns allowed to tight ends this season (4).

  • Targets Behind Allen, McConkey, Johston:

    • Oronde Gadsen II - 28 (5.6 AVG)

    • Kimani Vidal - 10 (2.5 AVG)

  • The Chargers have a solid group of receivers, with Keenan Allen having the most upside in the red zone. Johnston has seen far fewer targets but has proven to be more efficient. It’s worth noting that it’s almost a 50/50 chance across all pass catchers when targeted in the red zone by Herbert.

  • The Vikings have given up 5 touchdowns to wide receivers. While it’s not as many as the Cowboys or Lions, there could be a space to strongly consider where at least 2 touchdowns land on the Chargers’ side. Justin Herbert has thrown for at least 2 passing touchdowns in 4 out of 7 games this season.

Personnel Tendency

  • Minnesota runs 11 and 12 personnel roughly the same amount of time in the red zone, with 12 personnel having a nearly 20% higher pass rate.Double tight end personnel in the red zone with a high pass rate, looks great for Hockenson again.

  • Vikings Personnel Behind 11 & 21:

    • 10 Personnel - 9.21%

    • League AVG. - 0.43%

    • Pass Rate - 83.33%

  • The Chargers run 11 personnel at a slightly higher rate (68%) in the red zone and 21 personnel at a slightly lower rate (7%). 13 personnel appears 8% of the time in the red zone, with a low pass rate of about 33%.
